Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lump on rabbits cheek beside nose

Hi, I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what This lump is on my rabbits face? It's on her cheek beside her nose. Is there anything I can put on it to help her? I'd rather avoid going to the vet unless I have to as she is 5 and going to the vet is very stressful for her.

Thanks!
Laura

Is she vaccinated? It could be a myxi nodule - not the same as full blown myxi so don't panic, but she would need vet treatment. Has she got any other symptoms (swollen genitals?) or any other lumps? Another option would be an injury that abscessed. Unfortunately both would need antibiotics from the vet.

I hope your Vet is able to help. My Niles is 6 & finds the Vet terribly stressful too :( I hope the appointment goes smoothly for you xx

Thanks for you help guys! :D the vet gave it a good squeeze and hundreds of pus came out it. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen! She cleaned the abcess, gave her pain meds and antibiotics and also checked in her mouth to see if there was any obvious swelling etc in her mouth which there wasn't. The vet said it wasn't positioned on her jawline so fingered crossed it was just a one off. We are going back in a week for a check up. Daisy is currently sitting in a bad mood in the hall. She was not impressed by the temp in the car or being handled by the vet.
