  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Somes vibes please - back from vet update post 9

Roly Poly

I have an appointment this afternoon for Rolo - he seems fine in himself, eating, drinking, normal routine but over the weekend he has been wetting himself and weeing outside of his litter tray so he's now a little bit smelly, not sure if it may be a urine infection :?

So any vibes for my little guy would be much appreciated - he really doesn't enjoy vet visits!

Back from the vet with a very disgruntled Rolo - he finds it very undignified being prodded about in his nether regions!

Anyway, she gave him a pretty good once over, cleaned him up down below and thinks he may either have a UTI or a small infection in his boy bits! He has antiobiotics and she recommended sudocrem!

So I shall let him have a little sulk before subjecting him to any more prodding - thanks for all your vibes xxx

Sending vibes our for Rolo, I hope he hasn't sulked too much - and loves you again soon - Hope it is a speedy recovery for him!!

He's not a huge drinker - he has a bottle and a bowl - should I try and syringe some water into him?

If he gets very stressed by being handled then it may be counter-productive to keep trying to administer oral fluids via syringe. You could try when giving him his medication so it is all done in the same handling session. Does he eat a lot of Veg ? That will have some water content and if you leave it wet from rinsing it that would help too. Although some Rabbits refuse to go anywhere near wet veg

Sorry to be late to this thread but just wanted to add my vibes for a complete and swift recovery for Rolo. xxxxxxxx
