Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is this a bite?

Hey all, just playing with the rabbits and I noticed this on one of their ears, must have happened sometime within the last few hours.

Here's a pic http://imgur.com/PcazsBb

There is a new rabbit in the same room but in a different cage, I have noticed a little through the bars nipping going on but by and large they seemed to be getting on well. Is this likely to be a bite, it doesn't seem to be causing her too much discomfort. Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming you attached a pic? I can't see it if you did.

I would remove the rabbit from the room if they are nipping each other. Putting a strange bun in another bun's territory will certainly upset the order of things, especially if they can touch each other.

Link should take you too the pic. Can't get it to display here. I don't have anywhere else to put him at the moment but I've ensured they can no longer get at each other.

You need to upload the pic on an image hosting site (like photobucket) and then post the link on here. Is the bite big? He may need to see a vet if it is.

It might be mites or an ulcer/abscess, whichever I would let the Vet look at it. It doesn't look like a bite but could be.
