Sadly I have had to arrange before and it has been straight forward. Been trying to arrange through the specialist vets, not my vets. They don't know the cost so phoned the pet cremation but they said its the vets that we pay and they have the costs. Phone the vets back the receptionist there has no idea and said no one has had a rabbit cremation as far as she knows, which I find astounding, I did get a bit annoyed with her especially as she was so unhelpful.

Anyway phoned my vets and they have been so supportive, they didn't know about Cutie-pie.:( She suggested we could collect and take Cutie-pie to them. I couldn't face it but maybe James will. At least my vets care and I could talk to them on the phone.

i'm glad that your vets are showing care and concern. you'd think that there would be straightforward systems for this, as it must be a service required every day, by some poor family or another who have lost a beloved animal.

Oh Amanda that must have been so upsetting for you  C arranged Morse's private cremation, I am sure that she or one of her team will do the same for Cutie-Pie xx

That is what I thought, but she said they only had different options for cats and dogs but I said the website of the pet crematorium had several options for rabbits. She wasn't going to help.

I spoken to Claire who was so lovely and caring. She was genuinely sad to hear the news.

I was very upset with the woman who I spoke to at the specialist. I said this isn't really on me having to phone around and still no one knows but it was her uncaring attitude and I have been trying to arrange this since Tuesday. I may stick to using CJ Hall as the specialist instead. They have always been kind as well. Although it isn't the vets fault, he was caring when he phoned with the bad news but both receptionist were of no help.

Claire is such a lovely girl. It's a shame the two receptionists at the other place have had an empathy by-pass. Hope they never find themselves on the receiving end of similar treatment.

I am so sorry that this is such a trial for you. Thank goodness the folk at your own place are so wonderful and helpful. I can totally understand why transporting her would be so hard, I'm sure James will be able to though.

Thanks Ali.

I used Silvermere haven, you could try calling them direct? They were very good

It most likely too late now but thanks.

Have arranged for us to take Cutie-pie back to our vets tomorrow for the arrangements. At least she will be with. People that knew her and cared.

I know when I took Gemma to the undertakers I wrapped her in a favourite blankie and sat holding her and crying while I waited for the undertaker (he was dealing with human funeral arrangements). It is such a painful thing to do and yet in a way it helped a bit that I knew she would be treated with respect by people who did not think of her as 'just a rabbit'.

It's the last thing we can do for our beloved furries. Thinking of you, Amanda xxxx

Thinking of you.

So sorry that the process has been so unnecessarily complex, it's so sad to read the extra distress you've been caused :cry:

Thank you. Cutie-pie is at Twickenham vets now. It was nice to talk to people who remembered her and they were all shocked she had gone. She had only been there the following week for her routine vaccination, this was the last thing anyone expected.

I also bought some rearguard. Even though Mr B is inside its better I protect him.

Bandit seems alright but definitely lonely. Cannot make a decision about a friend until we find out on the 24th what the possible restructuring at James work means. Since his work have made two people redundant in the last few weeks. One was only told a week ago and was only given a weeks notice. At her farewell yesterday her immediate manager said its now become like a clear your desk your out scenario. We could face having to sell if he is made redundant. Its all very stressful.
