  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lots Of Vibes Needed.....

Sending lots and lots of vibes for Skye.

If they've had a period of time when they've not eaten, once they start to regain their appetite there is sometimes a delay in the poos coming through. We will keep everything crossed for Skye.

Thinking of you, I know how worrying it is. xx

She had some dandelion leaves this afternoon so hopefully that will get her bowls moving. How long will it take for her to poop

Because she hasn't passed any poos.

I could see why they might want to keep her if she hasn't come completely out of the anesthesia, but I wouldn't want my rabbit to stay at the vet after the spay too long, because I'd be worried she would be too scared to eat and then wouldn't poop, or be too scared to drink water. Couldn't they just let you take her home and tell you to bring her back if she isn't eating, drinking and pooping?

I think that, generally, rabbit-savvy vets like to see droppings before they are happy for the rabbit to go home - but I do, of course, see what you mean.
