  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I bought some of this stuff ages ago but have been too scared to use it  Me and the bunnies are moving in with my parents on Thursday though who have a cat and I don't want them to be exposed to fleas or any sort of icky parasite. Is this stuff ok to use as a preventative thing? The rabbits have been scratching alot the last couple of weeks but the vet says he can't see anything on them. I'm just a bit worried I'll end up burning their skin or something. It also says not to use on sick animals and both rabbits have snuffles, again the vet says they'll be fine but i just need some reassurance!

Personally, I wouldn't use it. Far better to treat the cat who is far more likely to pick up fleas than the bunnies. If you keep the cat fleakie-free then there's no need to treat the bunnies.

Is it not safe to use when they don't have any parasites? The cat is treated so I'm sure they'll be fine, I just wanted to be extra cautious. But I'll probably hold off for now then if that's better. Thanks

I know people who have used that on rabbits, but personally I wouldn't use it unless I had to ..
