  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit peeing on me

Hi all

Following on from my last thread http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?422302-Dangermouse-is-poorly-(

The last two times I have picked up Dangermouse to administer meds, she has waited until I have sat down on the chair with her and started to administer her first syringe and then she pees all over my lap. I know incontinence can be a symptom of EC but I feel like she's doing it deliberately. She has picked up massively since I started giving the meds but is still not eating crunchy food without struggling and has gone back to trying to fight me when I try to pick her up which she didn't have when she was first poorly (Don't get me wrong, I love the fact she fights me as it means she's getting better)

Something just has my spidey senses tingling to tell me it's not EC and that it's something else. If she hadn't had the fit when she did, she would have gone under for a dental. She also peed in the carrier after the fit on the way to the vet which between that and the fit, made the vet think it was EC and not dental (she had been absolutely fine, just struggled eating crunchy things)

I've picked her up loads before for meds etc. and she has never peed on me. She's also never peed in her vet carrier. She's being massively protected by Penfold who is continuously grooming her, especially when I come out to see them before herding her towards me. She is still going out in the run and is still crazy for greens, although she isn't eating them as quickly as she normally would and is still eating hay, although again it's slowly.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what it might be? I just want her to get better as quickly as possible

It could also be fear/stress. The new meds could be causing nervousness or anxiety whilst you administer them
