Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My new vet is very affectionate with Neville and Susie :) I find it really lovely but I did feel surprised as no other vet has been so sweet with them.

She thought they were lovely :) and kept calling them man and wife hehe.

My previous vet was very sweet with my previous hamster fudge, she was stroking her and complimented her for how well she was behaving and was the first hanster not to bite her
And when she came back the second time she asked how she was doing and actually seemed intrested in her!
When she was pts she said a prayer for fudge and told me what a lovely little hammie she was!

I love vets like that purley because it makes you and the pets feel more 'settled' and that you're in good hands
Shame my vet left!

One vet called Pip hammy 'Poppet'.
And said she was like a little dog carrying her bone around.
Our previous vet du called them 'Sweetie' and 'Monkey'.
Our current vet calls them ' Sweeheart' and 'good lad'.

I went for the first time to the vets the other week and I was impressed that when the vet heard a dog come in and start barking she immediately came out and got us, when we got into a quiet room she was talking to Milo and Finn saying things like ''Oh its much better in here without those scary doggies'' and constantly told them how cute they were and told them they were good lads for putting up with her poking.

She was lovely :D

I once had a vet who used to ooh and ahh over all my animals, but turned out to be a terrible vet. I then moved to one that was very knowledgeable, but never really seemed to like them! He used to occasionally stroke one of my guinea pigs (I don't know what was so appealing about her particularly!), but I always got the impression he didn't like rabbits much!

I often wonder what vets I've seen since think of certain animals.

Our vet loves the bunnies, especially Kerbie.. He just attracts all attention  And he is the only one that doesn't mind being picked up so she loves him even more

My vet is known as the bunnies aunty :) shes so lovely and loves to cuddle them as well.
you can tell shes a bunny vet

It's nice when they love your pets. When I got Doughnut back from the specialist he said "I guess you want your naughty absolutely adorable Doughnut back". He holds her up like a baby and said "look at that gorgeous tubby tummy". I don't feel so bad if she has to stay in as I know she will be getting love as well as a good service.

My local vets cut her nails and the nurse gave her a kiss. I was surprised but she said she couldn't resist. I'm sure I would be the same if I worked at a vets, kissing and cuddling all the animals as I couldn't resist!
