Mini lop turning white?

ChiefMikey

New Kit
Hi there!

I've got a 1 year old female brown mini lop. This morning when I went to change her food and water I noticed her fur is turning white and grey. I know rabbits change colour sometimes due to season and temp however I've never known a brown on to turn white? Could someone advise me on what could be up?

my Wee minilop Smudge was black, he is now turning brown with grey flecks...he changes after every moult... He also changes colour where Willow loves grooming him..

It looks sweet,., a bit like us going grey i reckon!!!

Some rabbits actually have quite a long of different colours in their coat - so the fur of a brown rabbit might be grey at the base, black in the middle and brown at the tips. As the fur it so dense you usually only see they brown tip colour. When they moult and the fur it patchy and all different lengths you see mottled patterns.

It would help if you could post a photo :)

Awww bless.... I am no expert but it looks like your little bun has a FANTASTIC moult going on!!!

That colour's called a 'sooty fawn'. That have greyish coloured points (feet/nose/ears) and lovely brownish fur inbetween. If I remember right I think their undercoat is quite pale. If there is a lot of lose fur you can comb/brush her to help get it out :)

She should have a lovely new shinny coat once she's finished moulting it all out and looking scruffy
