Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
Hi my bunny was spayed today and I was just wondering how long do I keep her in for? She is an outdoor bunny as I'm not aloud indoor pets and I've been told lots of different things. Also does anyone have Any advise on how to keep her comfortable and safe. Xxx

I've only had indoor bunnies but I'm sure someone will come along with outdoor bunnies soon.

Both the female bunnies I have had spayed were a bit quiet and needed a bit of extra tlc for a couple of days at least.

Is she eating ok and pooping yet? Keeping her warm and some tasty things to entice her to eat are always a good plan after surgery.

From what I remember, I checked to make sure her tummy was nice and pink and healing and not inflamed too.

Hope she is ok and recovers quickly :)

Thank you :) yea she is very quiet poor thing but she is pooping and eating (selectively) it's hard to tell how much she's drinking but going to give her some meds and see if she perks up :) xxx

My girl was spayed on Monday and for the first 3 days wasn't too good but after 2 visits to the vets she's now pooping and eating ok . As for letting her out I spoke to the vet and on the Wednesday they said I could let her out in my small run for a little bit as long as it was dry and warm with nothing to jump on it seemed to help get her pooping too but I would check with the vet or nurse first that's what I did x

Brilliant thank you very much she has an appointment Monday so I will raise any concerns with them then xxx

When I had my outdoor rabbit spayed, I kept her in for 5 days. By then she was going mad to get outside and for more space. I let her go outside in a small run until she had her 7 day post spay check up. Once she had the all clear, she resumed her normal routine.
