  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What was wrong, vet isn't sure???

Yesterday morning Blossom (neutard 3 yrs old mini lop) was off her food so I went indoors to try another tasty treat. When I got back to their hut I noticed how odd she was behaving. Very wobbly indeed and just not herself at all. Even her eyes didn't seem right and so very wide. I took her to my usual vet straight away and she was taken in for blood tests etc. All the tests came back negitive which is great but didn't explain the sysptoms. the vet asked if she'd fallen as it looked more like a nurological (spelling?) problem or even small fits but she really wasn't sure. The vets were great and started her on; pain killers, anti inflamarty, antibiotics and even started to worm her just in case of EC but the vet said due to how she was EC was unliglty but they were treating her for everything they could think of. I've just rang this morning and she's doing really well and responding to treatment. She's a lot less wobbly on her feet now and eating loads and seems very bright indeed.

Any ideas what this could have been??? I'm wondering if it was a reaction to her jabs that she had two weeks ago but she's had these before with no ill effects? I really can't think of anything else. I'm just so very pleased she's better. The vet did say if she was not better they would do xrays to see if there was anything nasty lerking about.

Poor Blossom, she's such a lovely cuddly bunny it will be so good to get her back home.
