Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Rabbit's tummy wrinkled?

Nic.

Warren Scout
I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, I just want to check because I haven't noticed it before. When I was checking Lana's scar from her spay today, I noticed that her tummy looked kind of wrinkled, they were quite big like folds in the skin. Her scar looks like it's healing nicely and it wasn't red or anything so I don't think if it's from that. Do you think maybe she's just gained alot of weight? It's been hard to look properly because the only way I can see is when I hold treats above her head so she'll stand up  After the spay I put lots and lots of food in the cage 24/7 because Luna who shares with her was hardly eating anything, I know Lana thought she was in bunny heaven and ate alot of this though  I'm not sure if that made her gain weight really quickly and that's what the wrinkles are?

thanks for any imput :D

Without being able to see what you are describing it is impossible to say what the 'wrinkles' are !!

It may be the result of sutures/the healing process. If you are concerned then I'd get the Vet to take a look as all we can offer are 'blind' guesses.

Shadow was really wrinkled down there when he was neutered, it was quite a shock to see at first!

As Jane said it could be the sutures.

Give the vet a call - they will tell you if it's that :thumb:

It's unlikely that gaining weight makes wrinkles as when an animal (or human!) gets fat their skin stretches which would actually have the opposite effect and would stretch out the wrinkles, making them disappear.

It sounds like you're describing the natural puckering which will appear around wounds during the healing process, regardless of whether there are stitches or not. I had a decent scratch on the back of my hand and that skin wrinkled/puckered up while it healed; it's now gone flat again.

Can you get any pictures and post them on here?

If you are at all worried, you must go see your vet as we're just guessing.

Thanks everyone. I will try and get some pictures when I'm home tomorrow night. I'm not really worried, she seems fine but I was just checking that there wasn't some horrible wrinkly rabbit disease that everyone knew about and I didn't
