Harry- Another Rabbit on Borrowed Time :-(

Jack's-Jane

Wise Old Thumper
About 6 years ago at one year of age Harry had to have a hind leg amputated after sustaining a compound fracture. Up until the end of last year he had coped well. But he then started to show signs of arthritis in his lower spine and the hip of his remaining hind leg. This has been managed with pain relief and massage. He also has some bladder sludge issues, so he needs a careful diet and I have to manually express his bladder every few days to prevent a build up of thick sludge.

Over the last week it has become evident that his arthritic pain is increasing. He is now on two different pain killers and more massage, he wont tolerate acupuncture. If we cannot get his pain under control I will have to let him go

All these losses are breaking my heart again and again

Oh Jane, how awful for you and poor Harry.

Vibes for Harry, and a big hug for you. Stay strong.

Bless him, Harry is such a sweetie.

All mine bar Spring will be 7 this year, and BJ 8. Have you tried these, Jane? I am considering starting mine on them but need to clear the pre-Christmas vet's bills first. One tub will only last me two weeks.

I have arthritic feet and to my horror had an attack of gout in February. Since then I have had a glass of this every day, and am convinced I have more mobility in my feet. If Harry is on borrowed time maybe it is worth trying this - a few drops in his water maybe?

They are a bit cheaper with animed and include delivery.

So sorry to hear this Jane, I remember him coming to you and then hurting himself. He is such a lovely bun and I hope the meds can help.

Thanks everyone. Harry has had a reasonably comfortable day today. He seems to enjoy his massage sessions and he takes his pain killers very well xx

Poor Harry, I really hope you are able to get the right med balance to control his pain. Lots of vibes for Harry x

You've been through a lot lately Jane but your commitment to the bunnies in your care is truly inspiring :)

I am late getting back to this thread but wanted to add my vibes and prayers for dear Harry. He is definitely one of my favorites of yours and I am sorry he's been struggling. :(

Feel better soon Harry!
(((((((((((Massive hugs))))))))))) for you Jane. xxxxxxxx
