Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Gas in baby bunny.

Linquieti

New Kit
Does anyone know the best solution for gas in my baby kit? I've massaged her tummy which has seemed to help and been told to buy drops, but not sure on which ones?

You could try some Infacol(simethicone infant gas drops). The dosage info is in this link:

If after a couple of doses she isn't feeling better, and if it's been several hours since she last ate or pooped, you will need to get her to the vet.

You will also want to make sure that she is staying warm, and encouraging her to hop around will sometimes help.

Infacol or gripe water - don't know what the dosages are or which one would be best for a baby bun but hopefully someone can advise.

Are you sure she has gas and is not just full? They get very plump when full. How baby is baby? What food is she on?

Yes its the same kit. She's definitely not full, I can hear the gas in her tummy. She turned 3 weeks on Wednesday, the vet has her on a critical care fine grind food. I'm giving her a drop of gripe water with every few syringe feeds which has helped a lot, i cant hear any gas anymore! I have no clue what else to do! I have had a kit euthanized in the past with the same symptoms, we tried various things for ten days and she was even hospitalised in the end but still didn't pull through. The vet said it could be a number of things and with her and my last kit being so young it doesn't look good. It makes me so upset that we don't know what's causing it and if my other 9 bunnies are at risk :(
