  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Oh my god I am really panicking!
I was sitting in bed ddawiing when I saw a little flitty fly on thie paaper so I shook it off and carried on.
Then I saw something crawling it was a flipping maggot! Hubby put it out the window?
Im worried that I touched it in someway or another. Is there any risk here??
Should I shower in the morning before seeing the buns? What about the paper it was on should that go in the bin?

I'd just wash my hands if I were you - nothing to be too concerned about. Any ideas where it may have come from?

I found the maggot in our bedroom!!
I have cleaned out their house and havent found anything.
I am going to check bums in a min and tomorrow I am going to buy Rearguard tomorrow.
Jims stopped eating the last time Rearguard was used on him but I think it was more to do with the stress of going to the vets so I hope doing it at home will be less stressful.
Do I need to worry, cause I am!!
