  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Problem with Bear getting me down :(

HoneyBear

Mama Doe
He keeps going off his food :(
He had stasis a while ago and since then every now and then for no apparent reason he's won't eat and huddles in the corner.
He did it late last night, I was up every hour with him and as soon as the vets opened so I could take him in he was fine again.
That's always the way too, he seems to just bounce back to normal like nothings happened.
He has had over £400 worth of tests and X rays with John Chitty in the last week which showed nothing, he's In great health.
What can I do?! It worries me sick every time and my nerves can't take it anymore.
And what could be causing it if he's healthy?

Smudge was similar... I have started to give him fibafirst instead of pellets and so far, touch wood, he's not been like that for a few months...

I have no medical advice but want to send vibes, its horrible when you dont know how to help

when bisc does it, it's usually gas or his heel is about to crack. think he can feel it or something and gets upset. does he have any slight issues that might be the problem? anything that could be scaring him?

bisc's had in depth tests because something just seems off with him. not all the time, but on and off. nothing showed on tests/xrays/bloods, so i know how frustrating it is not knowing why.

hope you can work out what it is.

He only thumps when he's upset, he's very nervous of fast movements and loud noises, so mucjh so we have worried about his sight before, but very friendly to me and my husband and we keep the noise in the house to a minimum for him.

His diet is -
Loads of hay, he's always eaten lots of hay
Tiny amount of profibre pellets
Readigrass
Science selective pellets, again small amount
Very occasionally some herbs nor forage

He's also on metacam the moment but this started before he was on it, he's taking it for sore hocks but his hocks were fine when this began.

Smudge was on SS.. i wonder if some buns are a little sensitive to it....?.

Their diet is EXACTLY the same as my 2... I find too that Smudge will eat more readigrass in preference to hay when he starts to become unwell...
Hope this passes for you... good luck
