Snake pics - ID help?

We've got this little guy living on our front porch that my mom keeps seeing, finally I was able to see and take pics of him! He's been living in the wall and then coming out to lay in the sun. He seems to like laying on this rubbish we set out to put in the garage, my mom kept seeing him curled up on the cup and on the xmas lights :lol:

Anyway I think he's a common garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis)? Not sure though.

No idea of the species you have over there, but beautiful pic.

What a beauty. No idea on the breed though. We have lovey golden slow worms in our garden. I saw a tiny baby the other day.
