  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Silver Fish

Are these dangerous to rabbits?
We have a bit of a damp problem, I was lying on the floor snuggling with Jims when what I believe was a silver fish ran out from under him, I tried to catch it but lost it.

I seriously doubt it, I used to have them in the bathroom of my rented flat. My buns were always healthy, I wouldn't worry about them any more than a woodlouse!

I used to find them quite mesmerising, if a bit stupid!

(Assuming we are talking about the same little bugs here!)

Nah, I'm sure my buns come into contact with silver fish often. They're harmless little bugs. To bunnies anyway, not to paper! I think they're adorable little things, the only bad thing about them is that they eat paper, including books :(

Nah all fine :)

They are strange looking wee things, ain't they! I remember seeing one for the 1st time and wondering what on earth it was.

Yes but you seem to miss the idea that im a chicken. Im not scared of snakes, spiders, hights but dirt and small unseen quick little bugs in my house I have a real issue with lol :)
In all honnesy would probably go get a shoe and squish it but still don't like the idea of a little bug sneaking round my house with uts dirty feet.
Yes I am awear I have problems :)
