Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bun lost weight recently, acting normal though...

Hey all

I have a lil ginger munchkin who is mini lop that goes by the name of Freddy. He is a happy little fella...eats and drinks well, does his toilets, is very active and sooo cute :)

I have noticed recently that he has lost weight and I can now feel his bones (spine, ribs, legs etc) when I stroke him. I have also noticed that he gets a small build up of white mucus up one nostril every now and then so I'm guessing that something isn't right with him :(

We are off to the vets on Thursday but I'm just looking for advise really...if there is anything I should be looking out for as I know vets can be terrible for fobbing is bunny mummies off...is weight loss and a occasional build ups of mucus indicative of anything in particular?

Thanks guys :)

Should add that he lives happily with my other 2 buns who are perfectly healthy and nice and plump :)

I guess I would be looking at his teeth mainly, signs of respiratory issues or, possibly renal failure ( although more likely in an older bun ).
