Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Help! Is this diarrhea?

Hello, my bun Leo has stopped eating and i saw 2 light brown stains on his bed sheet. It looks like light brown liquid poop mashed into the sheets. Is this diarrhea?? Ive looked at the old health threads with pics of bunny poop and there arent any of bunny diarrhea. He was fine just this morning so i dont know what happened! He did have fresh dandelions for breakfast...

Thanks for any help!! Am pretty worried.

PS: I wanted to attach a photo of it, but it seems I can't post an attachment/image?! I used to be able to do it - has it changed? It says at the bottom of the page "you may not post attachments"...

It's impossible to say if it is diarrhoea without being able to see it. It might be red urine, a common occurrence after a Rabbit has eaten dandelion leaves. But as you say that your Rabbit is also now not eating I would contact your Vet straight away. If it was diarrhoea and your Rabbit is anorexic this would potentially be very serious.

thanks Jane. His urine is red but thats due to the dandelions he ate this morning you are right, so not too worried.

I hope this link to the photo works

I am trying to monitor him but it's going to be very challenging getting him to a vet right now, so I hope he gets better very soon.

That is bladder sludge

He is probably anorexic as he has cystitis type pain due to the sludge irritating the lining of his bladder. So at the very least he needs pain relief.

goodness! Is this less serious? What causes it? I am trying to get some critical care into him. The earliest I can get him to a vet is midnight tonight when my husband comes home.

Many many thanks Jane!

If he will eat veg give it to him wet. Hope he is feeling better soon but he will need to see a Vet.
