ATTENTION all who live in UK and buy rabbit litter

Bunnie

Warren Scout
today i took my £5 out to the shops to buy one bag of rabbit litter from pets at home this would be 1 bag of 7ltr for £5 instead i went to wilkos and bought 3 bags - 24ltr (8ltr each bag) and it only costed £3.78!

I used to buy Pets at home rabbit litter - 7ltr for £5
http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/small-pet-wood-litter-7ltr

I now buy Wilko's (wilkinsons) cat litter - 8ltr for £1.26
http://www.wilko.com/cat-litter+trays/wilko-everyday-value-lightweight-cat-litter-8ltr/invt/0287684

I can almost buy 4 bags for the price of one bag. I am not saying that pets at home is'nt a good shop i love it and buy alot of my bunnie's stuff from there i am just saying that this one particular product is cheaper elsewhere.

Please consider switching

Is the cat litter non clumping? The 'normal' cat litter is designed to clump and can cause blockages in rabbits.

I use newspaper and hay in my litter trays.

It's non clumping apparently but looks like the clumping stuff, made with attapulgite clay. Doesn't look particularly safe for rabbits to me. I also prefer using newspaper and hay.

I would only use wood pellets as it's the safer option and these bags last ages. Or auboise or megazorb.

I've occasionally used that litter for our cat, I wouldn't use it for the buns as it's the clay type and don't think it would do them much good if they did ingest some

Try homebargains they do a 25ltr bag of wood pellet litter for £2.99. The 5ltr bag is 99p.

I use it all time with no issues. My friend also uses it for her horses stable as it works out cheaper then megazorb.

I don't think that litter is wood, paper or straw based, and these are the only safe options. I think it would be a bad idea to use this litter, especially if you put hay in the litter tray, as if ingested it could cause problems.

You can, however, get non-clumping, unscented wood pellet litter as cat litter, and this is usually cheaper than the stuff marketed for rabbits. You can get this in Pets at Home and most supermarkets.

I would not recommend this litter for rabbits.

Pesonally, I use thick layer of newspaper and hay.

I think it's pretty much covered that certain cat litters (this one by the looks of it) aren't totally safe for rabbits, it was really nice of you to think of posting a tip for other members though

I've used aubiose in the past which was great value (better than any other hemp products I've tried) and very absorbent, now I just use hay in the outdoor trays and newspaper and hay in the indoor tray.

I would use hay or newspaper for there litter tray but they only just learnt that their box of hay is for eating not peeing in and I don't want to give them a box of hay that is for peeing in and a box of hay that isn't for peeing in, and they shred all and any newspaper they find so they wouldn't pee in there they would just eat it, anyway I have tried out the litter stuff and I have mixed it all up with shredded paper, which works until they tip[ the litter trays over
