Been a rotten day. I was due for root canal today at 9.40 am but when I got up noticed Mr Bennett hadn't touched his pellets, a very bad sign. I offered him a crunchie but he only ate half. It all added up with the frantically chewed carpet over the last few days and two dirty bottoms in a row, yesterday and today and he hadn't had any carrots for nearly a week. I knew it had to be dental.

We lost the internet connection and didn't have the dentist number on me to cancel. Luckily got a 9 am vet appointment. Traffic was bad so 15 minutes late, that was fine but I had to ask if I could use the phone to cancel the dentist, again was fine but the dentist receptionist was not fine for me cancelling. I said it would be impossible for me to get back for 9.40 am, anyway they are going to consider fining me.

When we arrived at the vets the carpark was full and someone was pulling out which meant James had to reverse out. I jumped out and went in. When he was reversing he badly damaged the car. Deep scratches the side at the back on the the front of the bumper. Don't ask how he managed that.

Laura the vet confirmed small spurs at the back and I also knew he had put on weight which I feel terrible about. Up from 2.45 to 2.7 kilo's bearing in mind Mr Bennett is part Nethie. Have to be strict with him now. Although he is overweight he isn't badly overweight but it is something I am responsible for. :(

Got home snapped a pair of scissors in half, cheap old things then badly dented a new stainless steel bin I only bought a few weeks ago.

Anyway vibes for Mr Bennett, the rest of the stuff isn't important.

Oh no, what a bad day :( They're going to fine you for cancelling?! Hope Mr B's dental goes smoothly. Sending lots of vibes xx

byb, hugs. serious hugs. and a cup of tea, or coffee if you prefer.

may your dentist's receptionist see sense. email her the defra page that says its an offence to leave an animal suffering.

poor james! hugs to him too. cars are big and scary and there's so much that can go wrong -bumps, breakdowns - that's why 'mine' lives on a carpark away from my house and i've just had a taxi back from asda.

love and vibes to mr b, for his dental work.

xxx

I hope Mr B's dental goes well. I would have more confidence in Laura doing my Dental treatment than I do in any Dentist for humans !!

I expect the Receptionist went to the same school of politeness and empathy that one of the Receptionists at my GPs surgery graduated from

Hope the car can be fixed without it costing a fortune.

its probably an extra qualification required by the nhs - you'll get extra salary for it.

Thanks everyone.

Helen it was a late cancellation and I had done it before. Because I was using the phone at the vets with a room full of people I couldn't say anything to her other than it was an emergency vet trip. However the last cancellation wasn't late it was a few days before the appointment.

The car is so battered its not worth getting fixed. Black is a terrible colour and shows every flaw. It already had a few tiny marks when he bought it, including green paint on one of the handles and at the bottom of the car he never noticed. James is not good with small spaces and kind of loses his nerve. If we are driving along and someone is too close behind him he has to pull over to let them pass. He won't turn into a road if a car is close behind. I think he lacks a bit of confidence driving.

I hope Mr B feels better soon! N&T send love

I also hope the dentists don't fine you! They should really be more understanding - your last cancellation was a few days in advance, it's not like you've cancelled on the morning of two times in a row! I'm sure they managed to fill that appointment

Hope the car doesn't annoy you and James too much. The car you have is a nightmare for small spaces - my stepdads last company car was the same model and my mom was forever dinging it  Sometimes it's unavoidable with such long cars. Maybe suggest he gets a mini when you replace it ;)? Thank god for parking sensors and rear view cameras

Sending lots of vibes, and love.
hope the dentist receptionist is understanding next time.
if i had been a child needing to go to hospital the attitude would be different im sure.

What a morning

Sending vibes for Mr Bennett xxxx

I know, they wouldn't dare question that and I still phoned up and cancelled and just not turn up at all. I will see what happens.

They actually phoned me last week offering me a closer appointment at three different times on a Tuesday morning but I said I couldn't as I already had plans. Wonder if it was three other people who had cancelled because there were no appointments on that Tuesday a few weeks previous to that.

The car is a bit of a tank and was tight when reversing, not much leeway either side. James said it is hard to see out of the front and back unlike his old Ford escort. Not long ago we were in the Sainsburys car park and I noticed next to us was the same black ford focus and said oh look, a new version of your car. It was immaculate and looked new. Looked at the number plate and it was a year older.

Mr Bennett is awake now.

Poor Mr B, I feel absolutely rotten because they needed to clip his claws. I spend all my time with him and wash his bottom all the time and I missed his claws. :(

I did say he was scratching at his ears all the time and did give him a flea treatment 5 days ago, so I knew it couldn't be fleas, probably never was. His ears were a bit dirty but nothing major and they cleaned them when he was under.

Teeth weren't too bad, in fact better than normal but he did have spurs but nothing cutting into his tongue.

Sending lots of vibes for Mr Bennett and thinking of you.

Spenser and The Bad Bunny also send thier love. xx

What an awful day. Vibes for Mr B and hope he's feeling better soon.

I was told Nancy was borderline overweight and felt guilty, but she'd been such a skinny thing when we got her. I now feel bad about restricting her greats.

As for the dentists, what a jobsworth. They used to have a notice in my dentists advising of fines for not turning up, I've had to cancel on the day before but never got threatened with a fine.

Hope your week improves.
