Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Combi vaccine: Has anyones rabbit been a bit off colour afterwards?

Young Bun
My rabbit had the combi vaccine for the first time yesterday evening as opposed to the old two separate vaccines. This morning, she is not herself. She wouldn't eat nuggets, only herbs and appeared to be a bit aggitated and then hiding in her box. Has anyone else had this with a bun after the combi? My other rabbit had a reaction after Cylap once but that was a skin thing. Be grateful if anyone could tell me if this is usual after this relatively new vaccine. She is a bit of a sensitive bun, having a skin reaction after recent dental treatment.

no problems here. if anything, it's meant to be alot gentler than the old vaccines. i found that with bisc and matt. they were back to normal when we got home.

sounds like your girl is sensitive anyway. could you ring the vets for advice? some rabbits are a bit off colour for a day or so after a vaccine so hopefully she will be ok but best to get advice from the vets aswell i think.

It's not uncommon. Make sure she eats plenty, even if you have to feed her more treats than usual. Try tempting her with some carrot tops, often if you stick them under their nose they will bite them in half and eat the rest.

Thanks for the advice. Having fed her herbs earlier, which was the only thing she fancied eating, I have dashed home from work, hoping to find my buns in their usual places and she is ALOT better!!! She has eaten everything that I have offered her and seems back to her usual bouncy self. I can't believe she looked so awful this morning, she was obviously feeling really rough. Hopefully that is that and the skin sores that she had recently at the site of injections don't follow again! Thanks again for the advice it was a great help.
