  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Random runny poo tonight

Buster had a random runny poo tonight. He's been fine in himself all day, then after I gave him his dinner (which he mithered for as always!) he ate a little, then had about ten minutes where he wouldn't eat and just sat there looking at the food (very strange for him!). He then went back to being normal and some more food, but has since had one runny poo. Ever since then he's been completely fine and is now stuffing the rest of his dinner down him as if it never happened.
Obviously if this happens again he will be straight to the vets on Monday, but just wondering if i should be worried/ do anything immediately?
His diet hasn't changed at all (he has a small amount of excel pellets in the evening with his usual greens, and constant hay throughout the day), he hasn't had anything that he wouldn't normally have. As I said he is fine in himself now, back to his usual misbehaviour after this ten minutes of strangeness- making me think maybe something just disagreed with him or upset his tummy? He is still pooing normally other than this one runny poo. Am I best just to keep an eye on him?

Yes and just feed hay for 24 hours, no Veg or pellets. If you have access to some bramble leaves you could feed him a few of those too.
