Help me find rabbit savvy vet please!

Help! I can't find and savvy vets here in the Philippines! I want my bun to be neutered but the one I found is too expensive. And the other one comes cheap. I'm not sure if the cheap one is a rabbit savvy vet. He did not ask for any blood testing and such. He says neutering is just a minor operation.

The only way you're going to find out is to speak with each vet. Ask them how many rabbits they treat, how many spays or neuters they've carried out on rabbits, how many they've lost under anaesthetic, ask about pain relief in rabbits and their suggestions. Hopefully someone with a good medical knowledge will give some more advice, but that's what I'd do. If the expensive vet is the most rabbit-savvy, then I'd save up for a few more months and delay the spay/neuter.

Price isn't always the best way to judge a good vet. As Mackers said, it's best to ask some questions.

There are some general questions you can ask here: http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?267127-How-to-find-a-good-rabbit-vet

There's also some info re. neutering here as a guide to what sort of things the vet should be doing during the op/after etc so that might help you to judge which vet would be the best. http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?51537-FAQ-Neutering

If you're talking about a male neuter (castrate) then I'd agree with the cheaper vet though - it is just a minor op (a female/spay is a much bigger op) and I've never had blood tests before either op so I wouldn't necessarily class him as unsavvy because of that.
