Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Female rabbit loosing fur. Help!!!

So a couple of weeks ago our bunny had a fairly large patch of fur missing, and it was quite red, looked sore scabby, however we then took her to the vet who said it was a burn, we wasn't sure how that had happened, we've been super careful with the radiators and they are never on in the bunnies room and turned off before they roam the house. Nonetheless he gave us antibiotics and sent us on way. She has been acting fine like nothing is wrong. Everything was healing great and she was even growing fur back, until this morning when we checked her again and it had spread further up, it definitely cannot be another burn. It's pink, bald and has scabs forming, so I'm thinking it wasn't a burn in the place, maybe she is pulling her own fur out and causing herself to scab??? We have two bunnies one male and one female. We have separated them for the time being, but the vets is shut on Sunday and I'm just wondering has anyone else experienced anything similar? It's fairly large now about 6cm or more in total.

You need to upload them somewhere and then post the link :)

Have she had any vaccinations or other injections in the last month?

It could be various thing if you could post a photo maybe use photobucket or imageshack and post the link here then we may be able to suggest a few things

Is your vet rabbit savvy?

It could be if the male has been mounting her, they grab hold of the fur and possibly pull some out.
