Runaround systems, who has?

Kara

My current bunny house / run combo is coming to the end of it's life and I have two hutches (spare) which on their own would be far too small (they were emergency housing for "unwanted" bunnies) they are in great condition & I think with the connecting pipe between and one to a run would work out really well.

Either that or take the ends of each respective hutch and join :?: and use a pipe to get to the run.

Ideas please!!!!

They are brilliant, but a touch too pricey for me!

Very!!

I was wondering if we can make something ourselves?

I work opposite a company that do rainwater harvesting and they have a few big pipes laying outside their warehouse and we are also next door to a carpentry specialist who I know has made rabbit accommodation before, I wonder if I can get some favours

I have a system! I change it around to add another run into their setup in the winter.

I can't recommend it enough. I've had it 3 years and there's not one single problem with it - it'll last me another 10+ years. It's extremely safe - the pipe is solid so a fox can't nibble through, the doors are designed so that a fox can't fit through, etc. The fact that it's plastic means that it will last much longer than other systems on the market made of wood, and homemade versions.

We created our own connectors for one run as I was short on money. They were terrible compared to the real stuff - they kept breaking, they ended up warping due to water even though they'd been treated with cuprinol etc. Bare in mind that my stepdad is an engineer. With the runaround you're paying for safety and convenience. I can move the entire setup around the garden without having to disconnect anything. I was fed up of finding bits of the homemade one broken and having to fix it. With the runaround you just order any spares that you need.
Also, I can move their run all over the grass in the summer so they get lots of fresh grass and the grass doesn't suffer.

I'd never use anything else. It's just not worth the hassle or potential for disaster imo.

It is amazing  My parents love it too as their lawn has remained nice and tidy ;)

The people at runaround are so helpful too - Caroline has answered every single one of my boring questions over the years

 It is a little baffling at the beginning! If there's ever a question that you're too scared to ask them about, you can always PM me :D

I have the two way door and one tunnel, which we connected to our existing run, as I couldn't afford the whole system. Bun loves it. It really came into its own this past long hot summer, as one the warmer days, he'd choose to sit in his tunnel, which shows they really need something that simulates a burrow, as he could choose to be in the run or in his hutch, or the tunnel and he loves the tunnel!

I'd like to expand it a bit and am converting an existing shed into a new bun shed at the mo and am too broke to buy the tunnel even but will defo get the two doors and get some suitable piping the right gauge from a builder's yard.

Took my bun a few days to figure it out, but once he did there was no stopping him! We have taken it off for the winter... It is covered with a little Perspex window at the mo, but when the grass gets going in spring again, it will be straight back on.

Thanks for replies all, I appreciate it :thumb:

I emailed them and they said I need the connection kit or the den kit with the bigger pipe.

I have to weigh them now, I think they will be OK with the smaller pipe but we will see :thumb:

I'm going to get the 2 hutches joined together with the pipe and then decide on a new run :thumb:

I think they are worth the money. I don't currently have one attached to the buns kennel as need to landscape the area before attaching, but I had it attached to the old set-up for them to get from their hutch to their run and it was great.

Going to buy a binky box and mesh tunnel soon and make a little warren for the little buns! :D

Sorry I missed this before. I love my Runaround - the tunnels are so easy to put together and flexible too - we used some over the summer to fix a moveable run to a hutch for some guinea pigs who were staying with us and it allowed us to move the run around the lawn frequently. The mesh products are expensive but really studay. This is what we have currenlty for the buns.

I have one on each of my 2 hutches and runs. I saved a bit of money by only buying the doors for the hutches and having 'excess pipe' going into the run, rather than buying the run connectors. I bought a sheet of strong mesh to reinforce the run mesh where I cut the hole for the pipe. I was careful to cut just enough to push the pipe through. One of them comes in from the top of the run so has quite a long portion actually in the run, the other has about a foot in the run which I put a big clay pipe over to stop them chewing it but only really cos I found the pipe on sale in a garden centre! I don't think they'd chew enough to cause an issue anyway as long as there's at least a foot of pipe in the run!

I'm going to order what I need soon & start the project in the Springtime :D

I will use a pipe to connect two small hutches and from there to their current hutch / run combo (which needs a new roof etc) :thumb:
