  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Continental Giant Insurance

Young Bun
I am looking to insure my conti George but I'm struggling to find places that cover contis.. the only one I have found is petplan does anyone know of others that insure contis?

Any rabbit insurance should cover contis (you might have to choose another giant breed from the list, but it really doesn't matter)

The main ones I know of are
helpucover
p@h
petplan
exotic direct

I'd go with petplan anyway to be honest, their cover is more comprehensive than many others.

I would never go with a small or new company, as you run the risk of them stopping doing the insurance in the future, in which case then you have to switch companies with a load of pre-existing conditions.

My two contis are with Helpucover and they already paid out for Nettle. I had to call them Yellow Continental Giants as far as I remember, as there was no option otherwise, but I emailed the company and they said its the same thing for their purposes.

in my local pets4vets they had a leaflet about a website companioncare.co.uk would the healthcare plan be of use along with insurance?
