Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Getting the right dose of Panacur out the tube

Young Bun
I got some Panacur recently with the aim of giving Boris a course as a precaution after recent weight loss (other things have been ruled out). However I have having a tough time getting the right dose from the tube as pressing on the plunger always result in a sudden "burst" and the wrong dose coming out the end. I've tried pressing gently on the plunger (difficult with a struggling bunny in hand!) and the end result is the same. :( Of course, I'm worried I might OD Boris, so for now I have stopped my attempts to give him the course in the hope one of you fine people has overcome the same dilemma?

I've ordered another tube of Panacur as I've wasted half of my existing tube with my "experiments" (all but one directed at the kitchen surface rather than into my rabbit I hasten to add). I'm also hoping I got a faulty tube of the stuff too and the second tube I have ordered won't have this problem.

Hi Tommo :)

I recently gave Bailey and Belle their precautionary course by smearing it on a leaf each. Much easier to plunge (they had two graduations each as they are big buns) onto that! They happily munched it :)

Did you turn the little wheel thing down to the dose level? I missed that bit the first time  I put it on a mint or basil leaf, or a bit of spring greens.
