Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes needed for Smudge

Fee

Wise Old Thumper
He is a poorly boy, just back from Vets and he has stasis....

I am syringe feeding him recovery food, have pain relief to syringe and poor boy needs Fibreplex..

He has had baytril and IV fluids and needs to go back tomorrow...

He will not eat and he is normally so greedy with food, he clearly isnt well....He hasnt pood either so I need to make sure he does that too.. willow has been chasing him lots recently? I figure she knew there was something up.. I dodnt see anything sinister as he was eating fine till this morning..

Vets wouldnt take both he and Willow in as they dont allow it!! Need to get a new vet I think, I explained the bonding issue but they dont allow it!!! I have put tons of hay and nommy herbs in to tempt him but he isnt having any of it....

Please folks, any vibes would b appreciated,, Its almost a year to the day we lost Floppy to stasis ... i dont want Smudge to fail....

Fee

Sending vibes for Smudge. When my Daisy wouldn't eat I tried loads of things but the 2 things she would eat were Kale and grated carrot which I dipped in water and hand fed. x

Thanks guys.. still not nomming. Tried carrot and coriander but nothing yet........

Given him some recovery food so hopefully that might start to make him think about it,...

Many thanks
Fee xx

Hoping he will start eating soon, most likely tomorrow? Their hormones (even when they're neutered sometimes) start to perk up about this time. I've noticed little changes in some of mine!

Oh Fee... How worrying for you. I really hope there's improvement soon. C'mon Smudge sweetie, get nomming. You're worrying mummy. :(

Sending ((((vibes))))

Xxx

My son has just come in from the shed....He said that Smudge was really quite active, he was climbing up and down from box to box then shelf then showed a wee bit of interest and picked up one bit of hay and nommed it.. Small steps, small steps....

Thanks folks.. little by little your vibes may be working....xxx:D

He is eating herbs and forage ..Phew... at least something is going in...

I saw a suspicious looking poo in the shed .. One joined to another by what looks like string?? Perhaps he has chewed on something that has been clogging him up?. I have opened the door to the run and he has been in and out a couple of times...

Long Way to go but at least if he has pood, is drinking and has eaten a little, the vet will be pleased tomorrow..

Thanks all, your RU vibes rock!!!:thumb:

sounds like improvement!

The 'string' is just a result of the food inside the guts drying so the fibrous stuff is joining the poos together

Thanks Parsnipbun... You reckon the 'string ' then may be totally unrelated?.. I had hoped it was something passing through,...x

no not unrelated - a byproduct so to speak of the contents of the guts having become dried out and fibrous during the stasis - so now the dried out stuff is beginning to come through which is a good sign. Post stasis poos are often either drier than normal and smaller than normal -, strung together - or sometimes smellier than normal - depending what was wrong.
