  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fingers crossed for Hazel :(

Hazel the little girl bun has been drinking a lot and recently found out she's has the same farther as Fudge (the one who had to be put down due to Leukaemia)

I am now having the exactly same problems. Did a urine test and nothing came back so waiting on blood results which should come back tomorrow. I'm so scared :( vet said I would be very unlucky if this happened again as he's never seen it in his career as a vet. But we mustn't rule it out.

I have notified the breeder and not very happy as if this is the case she needs to stop breeding from this rabbit and needs him looking at.

Fingers crossed everyone x

She's fine!!!! So happy :) high calcium found in her diet which causes her to drink more. Need to look at ways to change her diet. Vet recommended greener coloured meadow hays rather than Timothy hay for the time being as can be quite rich.

Thank you. Really is fab news the symptoms were exactly like Fudge so I worried and after all that it's my fault feeding her calcium rich foods. Not sure why the little boy bun doesn't suffer from it though as they get fed the same.
