She had them Friday night/Saturday morning and all are looking plump and toasty warm (I had to have a sneaky peek  )

Didn't want to look too much but I could see 4 kits and 3 are spotty like Ivy and 1 is grey like Baloo

So that's some of my anxiety gone, now just waiting for Acorn to safely have hers and then I can stop chewing my fingers off

Continuing vibes for Acorn. x

Thank you :) she is looking very calm and settled so i'm really relieved. I was so worried because they came from such a :censored: home.

Acorn is a good weight now so fingers crossed she will also be fine and kits will be healthy. She is a lovely friendly bun and deserves better than to be pregnant at 7 months old :(

:( Acorn's tummy was empty this eve, couldn't find a nest but there was some blood and body parts

quite devastated  but Acorn is actually very bright and active. She was too young to be a mummy :(

Ivy's little ones are doing great and the nest is bobbing up and down with the kits moving around  I was really worried about little grey bun.. thought LGB was dead at first because there was no movement and he/she was being trampled on by the very active kits. Went to remove him/her but LGB started moving a little so I repositioned him on the top of the pile. This eve I had a quick look and LGB had a full tum and was active :)

Keep your fingers crossed that they will all be healthy

Those kits sound adorable, eagerly anticipating piccies here when possible. Never get tired of seeing cute baby bunny pictures

Thank you all, poor Acorn is doing well and is happily getting on with things. I guess she knows better than me what happened. I'm just glad Acorn is ok :)

As for Ivy and her little brood.. I have counted 5 little faces, though could be more tucked underneath. The nest is very deep and the babies have doubled in size! They are 5 days old today  LGB is very active now and they all have lovely round bellies :D

Grainy pic as no flash and didn't want to disturb them for too long, but thought you may want to see their scrummy little faces

Awwww I think I'm totally in love too, so pleased Ivy & kits are thriving :D

Glad Little Acorn is ok in herself, have you felt her tum to make sure it's empty. I only say that because I had a piggy who came to me pregnant, she was far too young & she only had one pup & as I was a complete novice, first birth for me ever, that was the advice I was given. I must admit it hadn't crossed my mind as I didn't want to disturb them. All was ok though & she had just the 1 plump boy

Look forward to pics when they start venturing from the nest - by the way, how comfy does that nest look, bet it's really warm

Yes she has had a check up, didn't want to leave it just in case she got in infection or something :( luckily she is ok but it's so worrying!

The kits are adorable and so lively  the nest is so snuggly  poor Ivy has her work cut out as because they are so active she keeps having to make the nest deeper so they can't escape

Now all I need are some lovely RU'ers to fall in love and want them all ;)

New pic for today, 6 days old and very plump :D  had to have a bit of a clean around the nest as the paper was v wet with wee, think Ivy is going in the corner after feeding and it's leaked under the bedding and around the nest :?

That's what I was thinking too, they've only been in the world less than a week but in that time they have literally doubled in size. Ivy must be a good mummy  mind you, she did hold onto them for a while so maybe they were bigger than normal when born? I have nothing to compare them to!

Acorn is doing really well, binkying around the hutch and jumping off the cardboard boxes

I'm really curious about what their ears will turn out like, with Ivy being uppy and Baloo being loppy... maybe a whole bunch of helicopters?

Awww, one melting heart over here! So cute & they are growing so much already. It is an amazing experience & I would love a litter of buns but there are too many bunnies needing homes already plus I wouldn't be able to let go of any :ops: I would need to move into a field. The only way I would get to see it is if like you I took on an expecting bun.

Or like my piggy which was bogof! But then minipigs are completely different as they are born ready to go, like someone just pops a really small piggy in the hutch, still cute  my now bridge piggy was a very special gift

Enjoy every minute :D

Babies turned 3 weeks old on Friday night  They have changed sooo much in the last week and have really filled out into fluffy greedy bunnies  They hear the food bag and the hay sack and that is it, binkies (well, very clumsy disorganised running into walls and flicking of feets) all over the place and they all try and sit in the bowls

Couple of pics from Friday.. sorry they are blurry, haven't used flash yet and using phone which doesn't take great pics. They are lovely to snuggle, a couple are very active but the other 3 will really cuddle up to me and all come over for head rubs

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :love::love::love:

The black and white one reminds me of Snowflake when he was a baby. - love at first sight (and I couldnt see all of him cos he and Frosty were curled up in a bunny ball, the two together the size of a tennis ball).

You are going to have such a lovely time as they get bigger and friendlier x

Ivy had to go to the vets this eve as i'm concerned about her losing weight in the past week. My normal vet is off until next week and the one standing in was a waste of time and basically laughed at me  He said as I hadn't weighed her I had no way of knowing she had lost weight because looking thinner is not an indication of weight loss?! Err well she feels VERY thin compared to last week and has lost condition, pretty sure i'm not imagining it  He told me to make sure I feed her every day and give her a fresh hand full of hay daily :? Her bowls are never empty and she gets a lot more than 1 hand full of hay each day!! :censored: idiot.

She is well in herself, eating like a trooper and is producing lovely poops. I will be taking her to another vet on Thursday as mine isn't back until next week :(

Anyway, here are a couple of pics from yesterday. Babies are doing great and Ivy is such a fantastic mummy

loss of condition could be due to her feeding the kits, and after giving birth to, their bodies go through a lot, id keep on feeding her and plenty of bedding, hopefully that's all it will be, gorgeus photos

silverrabbit

Fingers crossed it is from feeding, I guess I wasn't expecting to notice such a difference esp as she and her babies are getting through 4 bowls of Junior SS and enormous piles of hay each day. Also I guess she has been pregnant solidly for goodness knows how long (the previous owner never separated the male) so maybe it's taking it's toll. this is probably the longest she hasn't been pregnant for since being a baby herself :(

Just noticed that her eyes are bulging when she bends down to eat :? you can see the whites.. pretty sure this is new as I have been watching her and bubs closely since her arrival. Wish places weren't closed tomo :(

You know that feeling in the pit of your stomach when things don't feel quite right?

How much have you increased her food by? Also what brand is she on? Junior food is good for nursing mums because of the extra fat and protein, I've also heard that banana and broccoli are good for milk production. Nursing mums often do lose weight, and running away from babies who are constantly trying to latch on doesn't help so maybe put a ledge or something in her hutch/cage that she can hop on to but the babies can't if there's not one in there already

With my babies earlier this year, I found my mummy bun Poppy was a little thinner but she did have 6 hungry mouths nagging for food. I gave Poppy extra spinach and baby sweet corn in her Me time away from the babies. She always had pellets and hay available but gave her some time out each day to rest.

Hope this is all the same for ivy xx

For the moment i'm weighing her at home.. really can't face that rude vet again and if he thinks i'm going to pay him 32 every 2 days to be weighed then he has another thing coming

She has unlimited SS Junior, she has been on junior since I got her at 2 weeks preggo. I refill the bowls throughout the day and roughly equals 4 bowls piled high, though they are never empty by morning. She also gets some fibafirst sticks as she LOVES them, constant refills of hay and veg when away from the babies, though not too much as she gets excess cecals v easily.

The bubs don't hassle her too much thank goodness, they are more interested in hay and pellets now (they will be 4 weeks old this weekend). She has a high place to sit but the babies can now get up there  My favourite was washing his mummy today

It is suspected that Ivy - and Baloo since they lived together in a filthy hutch - may have EC and that is why they are not putting on weight properly. She is having bloods done on weds to confirm.. that is if they can keep her still enough to get blood as she is terribly nervy. But if she does then she will have passed it on to the babies :(

Really? Oh god, I have a spare hutch and attached run outside and a small shed..... My others are indoor bunnies, a pair & 2 singles. I was going to try to bond my singles but I'm not sure if they'd like each other. Plus one of them gets on extremely well with my pair and they love playing together. Slipper could live outside in the shed with them when the weather improves, he used to be an outdoor bunny until June when he came back to me. I could have two trios, one in my second bedroom and one outdoors. How do you think little girl bunny would like two boys to boss about? Her brother and norty Slipper?

Awww really? I can promise nobody would love them more and I'd always do my best for them. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the shed and it needs some minor repairs due to the weather we've been having and the hutch they'd live in until then is not the size recommended, but it wouldn't be forever like I said.

So I'm clear, there are a boy & girl black & white spotty and the gorgeous silver grey loppy/uppy is a boy? I get confused easily

Cleared  (or should be :lol:)

Yes, it's good you've got it early, but whilst I don't want to worry you (honestly!) Dexy was fine when we got him & then he deteriorated once he came home with me - the stress triggered it off. I'm not expert by a long shot and I'd love someone to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it might lie dormant until stress triggers it off and maybe some damage is already done? Dexy never fully recovered from the first outbreak, his legs were never strong enough for him to sit up on them for a wash or periscope and he fell over if he ran. Sometimes he fell over anyway. The second attack... Well we know how that story ends

I so so hope that I'm wrong and they have a very long healthy life with no damage/symptoms, no bunny deserves it more than they do xx

I think from what my vet said, treatment will kill of the parasite and as there are no symptoms at start of treatment, they shouldn't have any problems. They could also be carriers and not develop any symptoms at all. Obviously i'm not leaving it though and panacur all the way atm! My vet nurse friend said that around 52% of tests come back positive, so I guess there could be many bunnies out there carrying EC but who remain asymptomatic.

Sigh, talk about stress :(

You do right, err on the side of caution!! I have also heard about how prevalent it is, but the bunnies don't show symptoms so people don't know when I was researching it. I really have my fingers crossed for you and bunnies that they're fine after this! I can't imagine how stressful it must be having to treat 7 bunnies on a daily basis!

About 85% of all rabbits carry EC and live with it without any problems.
The level of the titer is the deciding factor. If it rises above a certain level it becomes a problem.

They should be absolutely fine.
I give mine a 5 day course once a year, just to be safe. The the scientific research on this is a bit inconclusive, some research concludes giving 5 day courses every 6 month is beneficial and there are just as many studies which conclude it does not help to prevent an EC outbreak.
Touch wood mine have been fine so far.

Fingers crossed, but I am sure they will be absolutely fine

Unfortunately, I could think of a million better (and safer) things to do than give 7 bunnies - inc 2 lunatic "feral" adults - panacur everyday for a month  The bubs aren't too bad and some just lick it up, but Baloo in particular is awful :( he attacks me every time  I know it's not his fault, his previous owners treated him so badly that it's no surprise that he doesn't want to be handled but he has NO choice right now. Sorry for lack of updates! Haven't been on RU for a couple of weeks due to being exhausted and lots of unwell buns and g pigs :(

Ivy and her kits are doing brilliant :thumb: they are 9 weeks old now  where did that time go?!?! I want my small floofy feets back instead of a group of binkying loons  (not really, adults are so much easier!)

Ivy has now left her brood and is living with Baloo (yes, I know she isn't done yet - he was done 1st week of Dec - but she was so depressed after leaving her babies :( ) and Baloo is now a completely different rabbit! He even hops over and lets me do the Panacur with minimal trouble :) As soon as her hormones settle she will be in for spaying and then it'll be happy ever after for them :)

At 8 weeks, nearly all the kits were the same size as Ivy  either they are really big or Ivy is teeny tiny! Now, my fave grey & white has overtaken Ivy in size. I think the previous owner lied and Ivy was living with a French lop not baloo :?

Anyway, some out of date pics but will hopefully get some better ones tonight

Ivy is the bun on the right, next to her is biggest grey & white!

:? pics are from 8 weeks old (I did mention the pics are out of date), they are now in single sex trio and pair. I'm not stupid and find that a little condescending tbh.

But anyway...

*Funny*Bunny* - Baloo is 2.3kg and Ivy is 1.7kg but is still underweight due to the back to back litters  however she is gradually gaining and vet is happy with her progress

I just can't believe how much they have changed  a little under 3 weeks and treatment will be finished and hopefully can find new homes for them. I think Baloo and Ivy will have to stay put as they are not cuddly and need a lot more time to come round to realising i'm not going to hurt them :(

They're very similar size then (or will be when Ivy has recovered from her ordeal), so that's really surprising how fast these babies are growing! Maybe there's a distant giant relative, or maybe you're right and it really was a giant Ivy was with and not Baloo!! Lilly grew from about 2 kg at 12 weeks, to 3.3kg at 1 year (and then to 3.6kg by 18 months when she finally stopped growing!), so if they're anything like her, yours still have plenty of growing to go

I hope Baloo and Ivy learn that you're not a threat to them as quick as possible! The poor little things must have been through some stressful times before they came to you :(

I hope Baloo and Ivy learn that you're not a threat to them as quick as possible! The poor little things must have been through some stressful times before they came to you :(

Thanks :) Baloo is much happier now he has his wifey back so fingers crossed they will both learn that only noms and strokes come from me and nothing horrible (well, and bum and nail checks but shhhhh! don't tell them that  )

They did have another empty hutch (another tiny g pig one  ) so maybe they did have another... it's horrible not knowing! I do wonder if maybe Ivy and Baloo are smaller than they should be because they were underfed and neglected all their short lives :( I had a spotty English-type bun before and she was 3.5ish kg so a lot bigger than Ivy!

LOL, Lilly obviously had some good growth spurts

That's strange....

I was just thinking of you and your precious bunny bundles and then *ping* there's an update...:love:

Yay!

Have I already said how much I wish I was in a bunny receiving position?

The not-so-little-anymore-grey earsies is soooooooooo smooshable.

Thanks for the update :thumb: they are pretty big for their age, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a giant with her at some point, it sounds reasonable with the bubs growing so quickly  they are still gorgeous!

Sorry to hear you've had such a busy couple of weeks, hope it's all settling down now. Good to hear Baloo is calmer too, I think once meds are sorted he will come round more too, especially when he sees his wife is relaxed too. Sounds like they've had a tough start in life but it's all changed now :)

It's amazing how big the boys are compared to the girls.. the girls both have uppy ears and slender like Ivy and the boys are more loppy. The black and white boy is just

Think I need to admit defeat and just come out and say I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

Will be so hard to say goodbye :(

:? pics are from 8 weeks old (I did mention the pics are out of date), they are now in single sex trio and pair.

I am sure no offence was intended. It is always good for all of us reading threads to have information spelt out. You know about splitting babies into same sex groups at eight weeks but not everyone does.

It's the tone more than anything tbh, saying I need to do something "NOW" is annoying and unnecessary. Fair enough that others may not know but that was aimed at me and it ruffled my feathers and I was just voicing my opinion :) That attitude (intentional or not as i'm sure it's often accidental) towards some members is why I left RU for a while a couple years back and why so many newbies left after a month or 2 (not recently, the attitude has changed a lot the past year). Saying something in a friendly manner doesn't take any more energy than saying it in a harsh way :)

But anyway, i'm not here to argue as RU has enough heated convo's :D  this is my baby bunny thread and I shall keep posting about my lovely squishy babies and I know I am doing all I can for them x

On a better note, now the bubs are here for another couple of weeks at least while they finish meds, I really want to name them properly (they have nicknames) but that will make me even more attached  If only I could win the lottery and have a big farm so i'd never have to rehome any

Argh! So sorry for lack of updates! Life has been mental and when i've had time to myself (aka internet time) I've been falling asleep!

Anyway, bubs are now 13 weeks old and are so amazingly cute. They are a little flighty (2 moreso than the others) but i'm thinking some behaviour is inherited? Both Ivy and Baloo are nervy :( though the babies love strokes and the black and white boy loves cuddles  I don't think the panacur helped very much as they HATED me  They are getting really good with using the litter trays (yay! easy cleaning for me lol)

Even better news is that it was suggested that I contact RWAF to ask for help with the vet bills for the family (I wouldn't be struggling so much if it wasn't for 460 for Baloo's retained testicle  plus EC bloods and 80 worth of panacur lol), and they have offered me some money to help cover the neutering costs, which is FANTASTIC! I couldn't be more relieved as now I can rehome them vaccinated and neutered which is obviously better all round. Whoever wants to adopt a bunny or 2 I will suggest that they make a donation to RWAF because their support really is invaluable.

I can't find the pics of the 2 girlies :( but I have some of the boys from the past 2 weeks :) will get some more of the girls and Ivy and Baloo tomo too, they are loving the garden

Thank you, i'm so proud of Ivy for delivering such healthy kits when she was half starved and terrified. What an amazing mummy who can now live the rest of her life in peace with her husbun  They are all vaccinated and the boys have been castrated (they had MAHOOSIVE plums!) so will be ready to go after they heal up :)

 how amazing to see LGB so big & healthy, i know she was a worry early on. You've done a great job with them all :thumb: are mum & dad bun doing well?

LGB was a real worry, I would never think she was the same rabbit looking at her now. Vet says they are all in great condition so i'm chuffed for them  Ivy and Baloo are doing great :) they need slightly more protein than my others so they get a bit of junior SS mixed in, but overall they are great and are so happy living together after neutering  Their teeth have also improved :D they weren't bad enough to need dentals but no hay at all meant their teeth hadn't been kept in shape. They are total hay monsters now though and its made such a difference

Just Bella and Cissy to be spayed (another month or so but vet says they are a good size already) and then they will be ready too.

Think i'm going to cry when I say goodbye

It can imagine it will be sad for you to say goodbye but you will know they are going to forever homes & that you helped them get a great start :thumb: x
