Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

URGENT - Bunnies been without water for 14 hrs

I feel so awful, and I know I should have noticed.

My cleaners came around this morning about 10 this morning.... and I just noticed (half past midnight) that their water bowl was still in the sink :( :( :(

I immediately gave them a bowl each and they have both gulped down a lot of water. I feel awful!

My question is: will they be OK?? Even if they drink down could problems occur tomorrow? Or now that I have gotten liquid into them, will they be OK??? They had some coriander at about 8 ish and that had been in water before I gave it to them.

Aw don't feel bad, I've done it myself after wiping out Flora and Max's bowl and I'm sure others have too.

I think they will be ok, just keep an eye on them. It's not hot so I doubt they would have drunk loads anyway :)

Aww Sure she will be fine! Xx
Happened to me and my bunny once!
I went away for the weekend and had my mum come over to check on Munchkin and feed her and give her water
Didn't notice that the top of her water bottle wasnt screwed on properly and must have all leaked out into her hutch, I got home to an empty bottle!
Poor Munchkin, she was ok tho, after a nice fresh drink when I got back!

They'll be fine, rabbits would usually get a lot of water from their food - grass (or coriander) is 80/90% water so that would have contributed to their fluid intake as does any veg.
