lumps/bumps on skin????????

Hello there, bunny-buds,

So, we have our almost 4-year-old boy. He is a happy fellow, had some health issues in his life (belly-aches), but we always managed to overcome them. There is this one thing I cannot find the answer to - ever since he was little, he had tiny bumps on his skin, all over his body… Mind you, he is not covered with them, but there is one on his thigh, on his back, on his belly, on his leg… etc…so pretty much everywhere. They are relatively small, most of them are about as big as his nipples, some a tad bigger. They are definitely solid and easy to feel. If I examine the skin where these lumps are, it is not red, nothing unusual about the texture or colour… It doesn't seem to bother him at all, not in pain when I touch them. I am clueless…

If I do research, I always bump into the topic of abscess? can these really be abscess-lumps? I have heard about jaw abscess (he doesn't seem to have a lump around the jaw area or the head), but to have them all over the body? it would be awful… he seems to have them since forever…

Any ideas bun-buds…and most importantly: ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE?

thank you all very much for reading,
Mike

That sounds odd, is there any possibility they could be old scars?

Have you consulted a vet? I'd have thought that that sort of thing would be noticed by a vet anyway at vaccination time!

I'd get a vet to look at them certainly, but if he's had them since a baby I doubt they are too sinister. If it was recent I'd of worried about nodular myxo. Abcesses probably would of burst or grown in that time. Maybe its some sort of allergy.

Abscesses can be anywhere, but they usually come up & then require treatment.

I've no idea tbh, but I would definitely advise a vet visit.

Thank you for the replies, guys. Yeah, actually, two vets have seen them, one of them being a rabbit specialist, but they can tell me what it is, only that it is unlikely to be sinister… Which is definitely a good thing, But I still would love to know what they are.. I mean, sure, they haven't caused any issue so far, but I just don't want it to cause unexpected issue once he gets old, and his immune system gets low…

It is just better to know, if you know what I mean…. :)that is why I am looking for someone who had the same thing..
But it does sound like something he will always have.. hmm...

I don't honestly know if rabbits suffer with these, but is it possible they are sebaceous cysts?

In humans sometimes hair folicles get clogged and cause that kind of lump, that is totally innoccuous and pain free but they are quite solid. They can come and go (I got one on my head once, it was REALLY strange). With all that fur I wonder if bunnies might get the same thing? :?

Hmm, after a quick google-session it seems like they do have something similar…this might be it…but to be sure, I need to consult with our vet, etc.. hm.

no help to you I know, but I noticed a similar little lump on our bun a few weeks ago, near one of his back legs. About the size of a tiny tiny pea. Then a few days later I noticed it had gone. It caused him no pain when I touched it either...like I said, no help whatsoever, but you're not alone...

That is reassuring to know…thank you!
