Honking rabbits!

*Funny*Bunny*

Warren Veteran
Harvey has always been a quiet boy, he found his voice about 2-3 weeks ago when he started honking when he wanted to hump Lilly  his honking has gotten more frequent since and he now honks whenever he gets over excited (which is a lot!) he just runs around the room "honk honk honk honk", when I'm preparing meals he's on his hind legs at my feet honking too, and of course, if he decides his wifey bun looks particularly stunning he will run after her honking!

Nothing has changed so I don't know why he's suddenly decided to be talkative! He's also been doing many more DBFs, bunny 500s and binkies! Something has made him very happy but I don't know what!

Anyone else have a honker? What reasons do your honkers honk for?

Have you a recording?? i am intrigued to hear what this sounds like??!!! b

Both of my boys honk! :)

Jack has always been quite vocal. He's an indoor rabbit and when he suddenly reached sexual maturity he got very vocal around me with his honking  He runs in circles around people of an evening when it is supper time and honks loudly before racing upstairs and back to his puppy crate. He's recently been introduced to one of my girls and he honks at her quite a bit, too.

Edgar's always been called 'special' by my family. He's usually quite introverted and quiet.. but since I let him socialise with Bella, another of my girl-bunnies, he's become very macho and honky. He follows her around like a puppy crooning honky love songs at her. She's in her own little world and seems oblivious to him usually though.

My girls don't honk.. but Bella does make some loud, bossy sounds when she wanst me to move or give her something and I'm not quick to act on it.

My bunnies never honk after theyre neutered :(

Harvey didn't even honk before he was neutered! It's just randomly started  he didn't honk when I bonded him with Lilly either, despite the frenzied humping!

It definitely sounds like it's a boy bunny thing!

I wish he could speak just so I could ask him why he's started doing this now!

I don't have a recording, I won't be able to get one when he's running about, he's not predicable enough and probably not quite loud enough to catch the noises unless he ran straight past me! I'll see whether I can catch his noises at dinner time! There used to be a really good youtube video of an excited honking rabbit but it's not there now and all the others are not really the same noise (that I can find)

Max honks at me aaaaall the time. When he's hungry, happy, angry, excited  I absolutely LOVE how vocal he is

We have got several neutered male and female bunnies, but only one of them, a buck, honks. It only happens at night and only when he gets 'excited', which is something that the females in his group do not appreciate.

Berry honks loads - when he wants food or just when we walk in the room and he runs togreet us! I love it!!
Tillie was a honker too but only when she was cross - we used to call her a goose, bless her.
Bramble never honked and neither does Blossom.

Its the funniest little noise and I was quite worried to begin with! xx
