Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Checking bunny gender - Urgent

Hey

My bunnies are currently 9 weeks old. However, I've tried to check their gender but it's a lot more difficult than I thought; they all seem the same!
As far as I've read they aren't sexually mature till 12 weeks. However, one of them started humping the rest of the bunnies today, so its got me worried...

If anyone who knows how to check and is from Leicester & willing to come help me out then I would greatly appreciate it! :D

Thanks

At 9 weeks old they are old enough to be vaccinated, so if you pop them along to the vet for that, the vet can sex them at the same time :)

I hope someone local can pop along but don't worry too much, he may be the dominant one or practising for later on! You should still have 3 weeks to enjoy seeing them together. THEN the boys may have some proof.

It is tough, I'd get a vet to check for you. The testicles are the easy test but they don't arrive until the 12-14 week mark and males can be fertile before the testicles have dropped so you can't use it as an indicator if you've got multiple rabbits. You really want to separate by 10 weeks to be sure.

Good point!!

At 9 weeks they should be heading to the vet for their jabs anyway - especially with myxi being rife this year again - so that will clear things up!
