Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Quite concerned and need some advice

Hey guys,

So my male lion head Mufasa has done two things that have quite concerned me now.

Once was around 2 weeks ago he was staying at my mothers house while I was moving home and as soon as she had let me know what she had found I rushed him to the emergency vets ( on a Sunday) to have him checked out. £80 pounds later the vet didn't really know what the issue was and because I couldn't tell him much more than what I have found he sent us on our way and said to just keep an eye on him.

Well for the last two weeks he's been fine. He's in his new home and has been settling in just fine. He has been exploring and doing the usual rabbity things until tonight I noticed on the floor the same thing that I had encountered at my mothers house.

I have attached two links to a couple of photographs I have taken of the problem and wondered if anyone had encountered this before or what it might be and should I be concerned. He seems in good health and is eating and drinking perfectly fine.

Here are the links:

I only managed to see one picture but the links aren't working for me now, you need an IMG code, I don't know if you can find that on what you are hosting your images from?

I think you're asking about his wee though?
Rabbits wee changes colour with their diet, the colour can vary a lot.

What is his diet?

Well I think it's wee but I haven't seen him actually do it but it does look like it.

Atm his diet is just hay and water as he is currently out of his normal russell rabbits pellets and I'm waiting for my local pet stores order to come in next wednesday.

Do you think this might be all it is? I'm a very nervous pet owner as his partner rabbit died 9 months ago now because I didn't get her to the vets in time as I didn't know anything was wrong, so now I'm always OTT if I notice anything different.

Nope can't see that one either  might just be me though!

I don't think there is a norm for rabbit wee, sometimes it can be darker, sometimes lighter. I found these threads that are more helpful than me! :)

I have 2 rabbits who have rather dark pee and their diet is mainly hay/forage and a handful of science selective pellets a day. The others have lighter pee but they all look different tbh.

I've just had a look at the photos and can't see anything to be worried about to be honest. He's had a wee, and what do you think is wrong? Does he not have any fresh veg daily? What about a litter tray? Does he have a water bottle or bowl? Sometimes darker wee can be when they are not drinking enough, and bunnies do tend to drink more and better from water bowls.
