Snuffles advice

New Kit
Hi there, im new to the forum.

I would like some advice/opinions on snuffles.

I had a baby bunny this year and he was really healthy up until about 4 months old, however when I put him back to the place he came from when i was on holiday he caught snuffles and sadly passed away.
Im guessing he must have been a carrier of it since birth but it only just sparked off when he came into contact with other bunnies?

The thing is, im getting 2 more baby bunnies in a few weeks time from the same breeder... what are peoples views on this? all her rabbits are healthy as are the their offspring who have gone to live with other people.
Will they be ok if I keep them separate from her bunnies?

Any opinions appreciated :)

I wouldn't have another one from a breeder who sold me one with snuffles, nor would I board a rabbit with someone where mine developed snuffles shortly after.
lots of rescues, come for that matter lots of breeders. you are spoilt for choice as to where to get a pair of rabbits from so personnally I wouldn't chance it happening again- I would get from somewhere else.

ps you have utterly sterilised the hell out of all your bunny equipment haven't you? if you haven't killed all bugs on hutch /run/dishes etc you may well infect the newcommers with the origonal buns germs.

Yep everything is thrown out, even the hutch and run. Buying everything new and even putting down new flooring where my old bunny was.

As I say, the bunny was really healthy until he returned to the breeder for a holiday. I still believe that he would still be here to this day had he not gone back. I've learnt now not to mix bunnies.
A rabbit savvy friend of mine suggested that he was maybe stressed when he was there with being surrounded by new people and bunnies. And so the stress brought on a vulnerability to infection?

Once I get these new ones they wont be leaving my house or coming into contact with other bunnies again
