Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Head Tilt Bunny

My Hugo bunny suddenly developed a severe head tilt on friday.

I have kept him confined to his hutch on his own since but not sure if he would benefit from some company or not. I thought maybe putting his companion in with him at night to cuddle and letting him have some peace in the day or will he be better off on his own while he's not well?

Sorry to hear Hugo has been unwell.
You could try allowing his companion to spend time with him with caution seeing as the buns have been parted since Friday.
Is Hugo's friend a girl bun?
Only asking because same sex buns should never be parted & ideally all bonded buns should be kept together even for vet trips.
However sometimes it's not that straight forward as we will all experience at some time.
Good luck and do watch the situation closely if you are putting them back together.

How is his partner with him whilst he's got the head tilt? Does your bun have trouble standing and does he roll? I ask because if your bunny has lost his balance it can spook the other rabbit and cause it to attack the poorly bunny.

I have a rabbit with severe head tilt, and although she's ok now she still has the occasional tumble and for that reason I can't re bond her with her partner as it frightens him when she falls and it would be too much of a risk.

Sending lots of vibes, hope he gets better soon. Head tilt is awful.

Ah thanks for the reply. The vet said I need to keep him quiet but in his own environment but I forgot to ask about his girlfriend. I don't want to risk keeping them apart long term so my plan is to pop her in with him at night and keep her out during the day. I will read the link now, thank you!

Bex, I put Chanel in with him tonight and all has been fine so far but I was worried she would know he's ill and what might happen. Have been checking every half hour and all calm so fingers crossed.
