Rabbit Shows

Odd question.

My breeder keeps a lot of show bunnies who are stunning.

Question, can anyone go to these shows? Would love to have a gander at all the buns

Anyone can go I think, but I'd avoid them. I've never seen rabbits but saw some guinea pigs at a local farm thing that happens every year, I just found it disgusting tbh. Boiling hot, tiny open cages, no shelter, very little if any water, just shavings and no hay. The poor things looked terrified :( I'll never forget it :(

Oh my god really?

Breeder showed me some photos and they had a free run and looked very happy. This makes me think twice :(

Even if they are kept in good conditions whilst there, the judges are so rough with them. They pick them up incorrectly and let them fall down to see how they land, they plop them on their backs to look at their undersides, they're all on a table right next to other intact bunnies ... It's just not a nice experience for them. Have you ever taken your bunnies to a vet? When I take mine I do everything I can to make them comfortable, they have food & drink, they're kept cool and close to each other, we don't let any other animals near them ... they still act like I just tried to kill them when we get home, I'm in the doghouse for days

Yep anyone can go, it's amazing seeing such a variety of different breeds, especially at the really big shows, but a lot of people on here don't like them because unfortunately the rabbits are in very small cages for the day, and rabbits new to the show scene can get quite visibly stressed

Oh my god that's terrible!! :/

I'm starting to feel like I should of adopted a bunny now. Eeeek.

What's done is done, you've got a rabbit who deserves as much love and care as any other, no matter where they came from :)

Very true, they will be very much loved, Can't wait to give them a lovely home and give them cuddles.

I'm hoping in a few years time I can build up a good bunny home and look into adopting a bun. :D
