  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

UTI symptoms

Straining when weeing/not weeing at all (this is an emergency requiring immediate Veterinary attention)
Abdominal pain, restlessness-tummy pressing-rapid respiratory rate-tooth grinding-shaking
Excessive drinking
'Leaking' urine/urine scald
Very offensive smelling wee
Secondary anorexia and gut stasis

Thank you

He hasn't got those symptoms. He's pooping perfectly, is alert and failrly active, he's has eaten most of his breakfast but he always acts as if he's starving and he's not doing that so much today, he is eating loads of hay and drinking.

The thing is he's not happy, and any rabbit owner knows when their baby isn't happy. He's wasn't happy yesterday and he's not that happy today, so what is it?

He has done a few small wees which is slightly unusual for him I think

His backside is clean and dry.

Is it me being over the top?? But I know he's not 100% himself, he's 90%

Are his poos normal in size and quantity ?

Given that he's a Rex are his hocks OK ?

Yep poops, big, round and nice colour and lots.
Hocks fine too. But there's something not quite right, I just know it. He is eating, but a bit less. I must admit his diet has got quite a lot of calcium in but I've never had problem with it before. His wee isn't sludgy.
I don't know. I just can't relax, because he's not my willow at the moment
