Wise Old Thumper
Due to the large amount of scar tissue on his tongue (developed after his operation to sew his tongue together again after it had been sliced by his own teeth) Coltsfoot has started to hyper salivate.
he has had a lot of tests for bacteria on skin and eyes, and his mouth thoroughly looked at and dental work updated again etc etc to ensure there is no other cause; and the vets are 99.9% certain that this is the cause.
Given that scar tissue is the cause and it cannot be operated on again (the tongue op was extremely difficult to do in first place and very risky), we now have to try and find a way of stopping the drool affecting his skin and fur on his front. he had re-grown his fur but now the drooling is bad again it is starting to come out again which is very very sad.
We have 'experimented' with a bib but he tends to get his paw through it and it makes his neck sore to wear a bib all the time.
Does anyone have any other ideas? or know of something that can help with hyper-salivation? Or have experience of this?
If it is something protective then it has to be something that will be waterproof but not cause him irritation or sweating (he has extra sensitive skin and allergies from having had a low immune system).
PS should add that before he had the op. he was starving as half of his own tongue was blocking his throat so it was a vital op.
