Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Moulting advice

Coggit

Young Bun
Hey there,

so, Harry is moulting for the first time since he's been with us. I remember reading that at around 6 months of age, rabbits go through a full moult, and I think this is what it could be? His colouring and patterns have changed since the beginning of the moult (it started a few days ago, but this is the first day that hair is actually coming out by the hand full!) I'm just wondering what I can do to help him? He's booked in tentatively to be castrated 16th (I work rotas, so that might change, but it will be done during that week!), so at the moment it's not very practical to make him sit with us whilst I brush him until he's been neutered (I tried that. My arms are now torn to shreds!).

What can I be doing to make it better for him? I guess brushing is going to be the best option, but which brush is best? I have like a needle one with black ends (if you know what I mean ) at the moment, but it doesn't work all that well . & how long does moulting usually last?

Thanks :)
