  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Surrey Simon Please / Blockage / Ud Friday

Tuckerbunnies

Wise Old Thumper
Surrey Simon was rushed to the vet's in the early hours of the morning as he seemed in considerable pain and we were hoping it wasn't a blockage...but it was. :(

The emergency vet operated on him straight away and got as much of the blockage out but couldn't reach some of it and said he could either put Simon to sleep or sew him up we opted for sewing him up and we have took him to our own vet this morning.

They took another x-ray of his tummy and the blockage was moving although he was still gassy. He has had lots of meds and he is back home now and has lots more meds to have round the clock and a lot of TLC.

He has been through a lot just recently as he had a big dental Op on Friday and now this :(

Please could Surrey Simon ( called that as he came from Furry Friends rescue all the way from Surrey) have some Vibes please to stay safe

Thank You xxxx

Our Special boy Surrey Simon.

Not at the moment as he only had the Op last night and he is on Vetergesic injections which make him drowsy. He was actually out last night before we took him to the emergency vets as he free ranges in the house.

Come on little Simon, stay strong and get well for ur mum. My lance had emergency surgery for a blockage start of June and he pulled through it so bunnies do make it for this type of surgery. Sending healing vibes and I know how stressful dthis is for u x

Update

Update 2:12 am

Well he has been nibbling hay and some dried herbs, he's passed some poops, I put a small dish of fresh herbs in with him tonight and he
started eating some and he is much better than last night.

Here is the x-ray they took at the emergency vet's Tuesday night and you can see how bad he was, we very nearly lost him :(
