Hair EVERYWHERE

Young Bun
Hi, I'm not sure if I'm posting this is the right section but my 8 month old mini lop, Harvey, molts everywhere. It doesn't matter how much I brush or comb him, or how much fur comes out, it's never ending!

Has anybody tried the small animal FURminator or do you have any suggestions to help with this?

Is he a house rabbit? I find they moult worse, probably just because there isn't weather to trigger it at set times.

Plucking the fur out by hand can be quicker/easier. Just work logically across gently pinching a tuft and anything lose just pulls out - no yanking just gently. If he's got moult lines then working along these is where at lot of lose fluff is.

He's an outdoor bunny so I didn't expect this much loose hair!
I'm guessing it could just be the weird weather we're having, boiling one minute, freezing the next.
I find his fur only actually comes out onto my clothes - or I only ever see it on my clothes!

I do manage to brush him, and a fair bit comes out, I actually manage to brush him until no more loose fur comes out, then minutes later he's covering me again! Lil' munchkin!

Thanks for the advice, I'll try giving that a go, I just don't want him to end up swallowing it whilst he's grooming!

You need to colour coordinate your outfit to your bunny

I've a feeling some people do use furminators, but I haven't myself so I couldn't say how well it works.

I read one post on here that said her rabbit's skin had torn due to using a furmiator. I use the wiping with damp hands method which works well although some hairs do definately get on to my clothes ...

I use the small animal furminator on my two lionheads - they are both fluffballs. It's been great since I used the furminator as opposed to the normal brush - gets rid of all the loose hair - it's great:thumb:

I just looked up the Furminator .. this could well be a silly question, but how can it tear a rabbit's skin - it looks like a fine tooth comb?

It's not battery operated or anything is it?

I have bunnies that shed like mad, all the time, and if it works it could be really useful :D

The teeth on the comb of the FURminators are very sharp, we have quite a few complaints in work of them scratching dogs skin.
If it's damaging the skin youre pressing far too hard.

Ive been considering one for a while, but I've only ever known people with the dog/cat ones.

Just brought Fat Man in for a cuddle and the amount of fur that came off him with one stroke is disgusting,
think I'm gonna have to invest to be honest!
