Rabbit Care Information stand at the RSPCA Milbrook Gala Day 1/9/13

Mama Doe
Hi! So I've recently started helping a wonderful lady named Jill who does the Rabbit Care Information (https://www.facebook.com/RabbitCareInformation) stand which goes around fetes and fairs promoting animal welfare.

It was a HUGE success at the RSPCA.

Here are some photos :)

We were in the stable block!

We gave away loads of free samples to bunny owners :) we didn't meet a single one that said their bun ate muesli though. Most on excel so really good!

The stand doesn't usually have live buns but Milbrook had these two amazingly laid back buns! Mother and daughter and they were absolute stars. Spent the day eating hay and the baby, Pearl, even gave her audience binkies!

Before Pearl went into her run in the morning, I couldn't resist a cuddle! She gave us tooth purrs! Her and her mum, Coral, are going to make someone an excellent pair of pets :)

Sometimes we were so busy you couldn't move in the stable! We did loads of bunny quizzes with the kids (and some adults!!), gave information on bonding, neutering, runs, veggies, tunnels.. You name it!

So exhausting but so worth it. Can't wait for next year!

That's fabulous! I love the stand and all the things on it :D

Those 2 buns are so gorgeous - you sneaking in a cuddle and everything :thumb:

Glad that it went so well for you. xx

Ahh, you're the new recruit!!

I helped Jill with a few stands last year, but this year I've been so busy with a house move and professional exams I haven't been able to :(

Hopefully next year I can help a few again :)

Well done Jill and Talya and team, that looks fab! It's great that you were so busy. Hopefully lots of buns have benefitted from their mums and dads talking to you :)

:thumb: Talya has summed it up pretty well here and along with her friend Hayley, are great additions to team RCI! :thumb:

The last couple of events had been really disappointing so this was a real boost :) It was great to be so busy that I had to stand outside the stall for a fair amount of the time :thumb::D

As Talya has said, the message about muesli seems to have gotten through so that proves it is possible to change ideas if you have the manufacturers / pet shops etc. on board.

The 2 bunnies were such great ambassadors as well as being super cute  . Pearl, the 6 week old baby is so well socialised due to her situation and was not fazed at all by the hordes of admirers. We only had to tell one child not to bang on the wire, the rest were well behaved and oohed and awed at the bunnies. Then some did our quiz, which entails reading all of the info boards and stand stuff and even the ones that didn't, we were able to get in comments like "such a good hay eater already, it's great for her development that she's on the right diet from the start and will avoid dental problems" ;) hehe. We've been on the road for 2 years now with RCI and have avoided taking live bunnies. This was unique in that we were inside with a huge pen for them - I can't see how we could translate that into our gazebo at village fetes/ country fairs etc. Pity, as they were quite a draw.

Her binkies proved how happy she was with the amount of space. Truly wonderful to see  ...... my pockets did need checking

Catherine - keep in touch, it's a shame you're so far away now  but holler if you are able to do any events next year :)

:thumb::wave: And 2 at least will be going to our rabbit savvy Vet :thumb: as well as all the other info we gave out

:thumb: I'm going to hold you to this :D

One last thing  - some RUers may recognise their buns and / or housing on the boards as they gave me permission to use them :thumb:

Hi Talya,

I apologise for killing your thread  . So sorry, you guys did such a great job and are great fully fledged members of Team RCI. Onwards and upwards next spring :thumb:
