  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

A bit of advise please ....

My bunny's had there ops yesterday there are doing poos but no wee ?? they are eating ok and settled and perky.. 1.. im worried they haven't weeded.. 2.. i wasn't given pain relief but told they had injections to last them 24 hours i guess if they were in pain they wouldn't move or eat and there doing both .. if no wee by morning i will call vet first thing ..

I hope they have both wee'd by now. If not you are correct to contact the Vet this morning for advice. It is a shame they were not given a few days supply of anti-inflammatory pain relief, I dont think I'd want just 24 hours analgesic cover after a hysterectomy/castration.

Thankyou for your reply Jack`s-jane I would of thought so but i asked and was told that if there not eating when the 24 hrs is up then bring them back ... I was awake at 6.30 this morning went out to them both eating and greeted me by licking my fingers and we had wee from both so guessing we are going in the right direction (Day2 of op) ... :D

I would definitely o back and ask for a 5 day course of pain relief for them both. Evenifthey are acting ok it's a horrific thing to have to go through without pain meds. I also had a bunny rip his wound open because he was not give pain meds and it was bothering him so much :(

Vibes for continued speedy recovery for them both :)
