Anyone else have a brilliant vet?

Rexripley

Mama Doe
For the first six months I was taking the buns to the local vets but after a bad experience with Bruce decided to look further afield.

It's only ten miles away but we took Alfie there to get neutered and the vet was brilliant. He's done all of their injections (at a reduced rate) and is very rabbit savvy.

When we took poor pickles on Thursday he was sympathetic and excellent with her, us and Alfie.

He told us stories about his own rabbits, some he had for over ten years and some with sudden deaths like poor pickles.

Seems I'm a regular there now

Anyone else have an excellent vets?

Our vet is brilliant, we have been going to him for about 6 years and he is very rabbit savvy . I think it is so important to trust your vet and trust their knowledge. He has saved many of my pets lives over the years, I dont know what I would do without him !

We had a few problems with 2 of the vets at our practice, but we have one who we always take our lot to. She's fab, knows all of the rabbits now  When Charlie stopped eating after her spay, we had to see a vet we hadn't met before, but she was really knowledgable on rabbits so I didn't need to panic! I would happily take the buns to see her too:D

All of the receptionists know us too:lol: really friendly place:D of course there are some horrible people that go in there but we've learnt to ignore them!

My brilliant vet has just left  I took the afternoon off one day this week to batch them all up for a check up before she went

Fortunately she is reappearing, she is setting up her own practice in the next town but it won't be opening until the middle of November, so I will just have to cope with other vets at the existing practice until then!

we had a good vet at our old practice but she left, not sure where she went. the new vets were... well, new and didn't seem to like rabbits much (at our last appointment there nibbles was going for his incisor burring and we overhead the two vets arguing over who should have 'the rabbit':roll::roll:) so when a new practice opened very near to me we went along and i've been very impressed, they're so caring and i feel like my bunnies are in good hands :D they've only been open for about two weeks and we have already been there 5 times  the main vet however we met at another practice when jasper was being neutered, what a coincidence :D

YEP!!!!!!

Our rabbit vet is very rabbit savvy. We do a hour and a half drive each way to get to him, he's in Gloucester. It always amazes me how many other buns we see too when we are there and from all over the country too. I love talking to other bunny people in the waiting room, 'we' seem to outnumber the 'other' clients for once

A few days ago when Hudol (Bunby) went for his dental (which was booked in after hours as the vet was just back off holiday and so many people wanted to see him so he stayed on) I was talking to another bunny mummy who had travelled from Leicester. We both agreed that we would stop having rabbits as pets when this vet retires

Our vets are lovely, and also the specialist vet our own vets sent us too. Much more Bunny savy than our old vets!:thumb:

I'm guessing you're referring to the wonderful Jason Burgess...??

Oh yes!! A really excellent vet and a decent bloke. He has certainly saved a couple of our buns not only from suffering but death.

I love meeting the other bunny people who go there and their lovely buns

I think he is a genius - but don't tell him!!! :lol::lol:

I'm very pleased with my vets. There are 3 there that I'd trust to do the right thing with Ludo, and they were spot on with the treatment he got both during his stasis and after his castration.

I  my vets , I knew they were fab as they hired me as a face painter for their Christmas party . As soon as I had rabbits I knew where to take them :D. They love our two as well and binky will let them cuddle her as she was an abandoned rabbit and we picked her up from them . If you look at Nuvets on Facebook that's my fabtasic peeps.

Re the latter - too late! He's the best vet I've ever known and well worth a 4 hour journey each way. I've learned so much from him; he's diagnosed some very uncommon conditions and his experience and skill has saved many rabbits from almost-certain death.

Not sure yet!

I don't think I have seen the same vet twice! One of them has really annoyed me. I think she is French but I find her abrupt and after today and her not calling me back then she has annoyed me even more!

The others are really nice. One was ace on the phone today and the after op check on Lola the male vet was great. We had a great chat about jackets to cover stitches on rabbit.

I do have a vet friend with her own practice 15 miles away but I like to have a closer vet! Am I being pernickety?

So my answer is not 100% sure. :(

Yes.

There's one at my practice I wouldn't touch with a barge pole but the others are great. They aren't specialists but they know their stuff, they are happy to listen to me and my suggestions, they will research, contact specialists if needed and not afraid to admit if something is beyond their knowledge and will refer me on to FHB if needed, luckily she's just under an hour away.

Yes, without a shadow of doubt. I'm lucky to see one of the best bunny and piggy vets in the country - along with several other RUers.

I love my vets. It's a two vet practice.

They both have a good knowledge of rabbits and guinea pigs. If their not sure on something they call another local vet who is very rabbit savvy. They always check the rabbits on the floor. So the rabbits love to run around the consult room.

After the mess the p@h vets made with Bramble i'd never go anywhere else. My vets were the ones that sorted it out and reassured me. I trust them 100% with my rabbits.
