do you have to mow newly grown grass?

i planted some grass seeds in the piggies run which have all grown really well. it says to mow after a certain number of weeks. why is this? and does it matter if you don't? :? just thought because if i had planted it in tubs, i would just pick and feed it without ever cutting it, but for an actual lawn you're meant to? :?

I think it's to let the light down to bottom so it thickens up. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you want the perfect lawn x

i might just leave it then. it's only just over half of their 6x4 run so i don't see the point really.
