  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help/advice again please - slightly paranoid owner!!

Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate any advice please...

Gwen's spaying went really well and she's eating and going to the toilet brilliantly - but she's going stir crazy in her cage and wants to come out and run round! I asked the vet and she said she can come out "as long as she doesn't leap or run too fast"!! How would I stop her doing that?? I let her out for 5 mins last night then got scared and put her back as I didn't want her hurting herself :(

Also, I was stroking Arthur last night and spending a bit of time with him and felt a lump under his fluffy fur - when I looked I found quite a large graze with a hole!!!! He and Gwen haven't been introduced yet so I know she hasn't bitten him!! I bathed it with salt water and he didn't seem bothered - my first reaction was to take him to the vet but i'm afraid they'll think i'm a crazy stalker as I've been in there when his teeth were hurting him the week before last and I took Gwen back when she hadn't had a wee for 24 hours!!!

Here is a pic ...

HELP PLEASE :( x

Has he had an injection of any kind in the last week or so ?

Thanks for replying so quickly!

He may well have done, when they did his teeth? I found him unwell suddenly in the morning the week before last and took him straight to the vet, who said that his back teeth are growing into his cheek - he stayed in for the dental procedure...

Could it be to do with this? I didn't even think about that! x
